Thermostatic Mixing Valves Georges River
Need help with thermostatic mixing valves? EKORP services Georges River. Call to discuss the property, the work and current availability.
Where’s the job?
Thermostatic mixing valves do quiet, critical work in Georges River homes: the hot water unit stores hot enough to keep Legionella out while the valve caps what reaches the taps at 50°C. When one drifts out of calibration, nobody notices until the shower runs scalding.
EKORP installs, tests and services TMVs right across the Georges River area, from Hurstville unit blocks to the waterfront homes of Blakehurst, Connells Point and Kyle Bay. Aged-care in the Hurstville hospital district and childcare centres in Mortdale and Oatley run on our annual testing schedule.
TMV service from Hurstville to Lugarno
Short drives mean fast arrivals, and regular routes mean we know the housing stock: which streets run older pipework, where pressure sits, what access looks like.
Requirements can vary by property and authority. We will help you confirm what applies before work begins.
Older homes need smarter valve placement
Requirements can vary by property and authority. We will help you confirm what applies before work begins. We position every valve so a technician can reach it without opening walls.
Older South Hurstville plumbing also throws hot and cold pressures out of balance, and a TMV only holds its set point when the pressures behind it agree. We correct that before commissioning, not after the first complaint.
Point-of-use valve or one master valve
An under-sink TMV protects a single outlet, practical where one specific basin needs protection. A centralised tempering valve at the hot water unit covers every outlet in the house through a single point, with fewer components to maintain. Which way to go depends on the property's layout, fixtures and who uses the hot water. We assess before we specify.
- Point-of-use TMVs for a single basin or shower
- Centralised valves covering the whole property
- Thermostatic shower mixers retrofitted without retiling
- Valve access planned for annual servicing
Testing, calibration and the paperwork
Every install and every annual test ends the same way: outlet temperature measured, valve calibrated, and a written record with the recorded temperature and the technician's licence number handed over before we leave. For aged-care and childcare operators, that document is the difference between compliance and liability.
A valve that fluctuates, chatters, drips or loses its set point is telling you it needs attention. Emergency arrival times depend on location, traffic and plumber availability. We will give you an estimated arrival window when you call.

Questions
Common questions about thermostatic mixing valves.
Here are clear answers to common questions. Call us if you need help with something else.
What exactly is a thermostatic mixing valve and how does it differ from standard mixer taps?
A thermostatic mixing valve automatically blends hot and cold water to maintain a precise pre-set temperature regardless of pressure or temperature fluctuations in your water supply. Unlike standard mixer taps that require manual adjustment when conditions change, thermostatic shower mixers maintain consistent temperature even when someone flushes a toilet or turns on another tap elsewhere in your home. The key practical difference is that a TMV reacts to temperature changes automatically, without any input from the person using the fixture.
At what temperature should I set my thermostatic mixing valve?
For most residential applications, thermostatic mixing valves should be set to deliver water between 38°C and 50°C at the outlet. For shower and bath fixtures, 41 to 43°C provides comfortable bathing temperature while maintaining a margin below the scald threshold. Basin TMVs are sometimes set slightly lower at 38 to 40°C. Under NSW regulations, water delivered to bathrooms must not exceed 50°C. Your hot water storage unit should remain at 60°C or higher for Legionella control, with the TMV in the delivery line handling the temperature reduction.
What are the signs that my thermostatic mixing valve needs maintenance or replacement?
Watch for these warning signs: inconsistent water temperature at the outlet; water running noticeably hotter or cooler than the set point; reduced flow from the fixture; unusual noises during operation such as chattering or hammering; visible moisture or drips around the valve body; or difficulty achieving the desired temperature despite adjusting the valve. If your TMV is more than 5 years old and showing any of these symptoms, schedule a inspection rather than waiting for the next annual service.
How often should thermostatic mixing valves be serviced or replaced?
Requirements can vary by property and authority. We will help you confirm what applies before work begins. This annual inspection confirms the valve is still delivering water within the correct temperature range. With proper maintenance, a quality valve typically lasts 5 to 7 years before internal components need replacement. Full valve replacement is generally recommended after 10 to 15 years, depending on local water quality, usage patterns and the results of annual testing.
