Gas plumbing is the one trade in Sydney where near enough is against the law. Every stage of a gas job in NSW, from the first trench to the final pressure test, has to be done by a licensed gas fitter, and every EKORP gas job runs under NSW Plumbing Lic 322223C.

Gas appliance installation and repair
We connect the lot: instantaneous, storage and condensing gas hot water including flue and temperature and pressure relief valve, cooktops and ovens with operating pressure verified and flame failure protection checked, flued heaters and fireplaces with correct clearances, and outdoor BBQs and patio heaters on weatherproof fittings.
On the repair side, a pilot that will not stay lit or a failing thermocouple is usually fixed in one visit, and an annual service cleans the burners, verifies gas pressure, checks the safety controls and tests for carbon monoxide at the flue.
Gas leak detection and repair
A rotten egg smell, hissing near a fitting, or an unexplained jump in your gas bill: leave the property, avoid switches and flames, and call from outside. Calibrated electronic detectors locate leaks in concealed pipes down to parts per million, so nothing gets opened up on a hunch.
Pressure testing isolates sections of pipework to confirm and narrow the leak, the repair uses approved gas-rated materials, and the section is re-tested before supply is restored.
Conversions: electric to gas, LPG to natural gas
Electric to gas is a managed job from new line to commissioned appliance, whether it is hot water, cooking or heating. LPG to natural gas is more than a bottle swap: the two run at different pressures, so appliances need injector and burner pressure changes, regulators get replaced where required, and the whole system is pressure-tested.
Both conversions finish with full compliance documentation for your records, your gas retailer, and anyone else who asks.

Is EKORP Plumbing licensed and insured for gas plumbing work?
Yes. All gas work is carried out by licensed gasfitters holding current NSW gas licences. NSW Plumbing Lic 322223C is verifiable through NSW Fair Trading. Requirements can vary by property and authority. We will help you confirm what applies before work begins.
Can I install a gas cooktop myself in NSW?
No. Under NSW law, carrying out gas installation work without a current gasfitting licence is an offence. This applies to homeowners as well as unlicensed tradespeople. The prohibition covers connecting the appliance, replacing the flexible hose, and adjusting the regulator. The one thing a homeowner can legally do is light the appliance after a licensed gasfitter has connected it and issued the compliance certificate. A poorly connected flexible hose or an unchecked regulator can produce a gas leak that goes undetected until it reaches ignition concentration, and insurance claims related to unlicensed gas work are routinely declined.
How do I know if I have a gas leak?
Gas suppliers add a chemical odorant that produces a distinct rotten egg or sulphur smell. You may also hear a faint hissing near a pipe joint, appliance connection, or meter. Dead or discoloured vegetation near an underground gas line can indicate a slow ground-level leak. If you notice any of these signs, leave the property immediately, avoid all switches and open flames, and call us from a safe distance. Contact your gas provider as well.
How much does it cost to add a gas point to a kitchen that has never had gas?
We inspect the job and confirm the price before work begins. If the house is already on the natural gas network and the meter is reasonably close to the kitchen, the lower end is more likely. Homes on LPG will also need a regulator and cylinder installation if one is not already in place. Get two or three quotes and confirm each one includes the compliance certificate.
How long does gas cooktop installation take?
A straight swap at an existing gas point takes one to one and a half hours. That covers disconnecting the old appliance, connecting the new one, performing a pressure and leak test, and issuing the compliance certificate. A job requiring a new pipe run will take two to four hours depending on the run length and access. Concealed pipework in a finished kitchen takes longer than surface-mounted runs in a laundry or outdoor area.
Do I need a compliance certificate for a gas bayonet fitting in NSW?
Yes. Under the NSW Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011, a certificate of compliance is required for all gas installation work, including a single bayonet point. Requirements can vary by property and authority. We will help you confirm what applies before work begins. File it with your property papers. The gasfitter issues the certificate and lodges a copy with NSW Fair Trading. Your insurer and future conveyancer may ask for it.
