Water Leak Detection Sydney
Need help with water leak detection? EKORP services Sydney's south. Call to discuss the property, the work and current availability.
Where’s the job?
A hidden leak is a quiet vandal, and water leak detection is how you catch it early. A pinhole in a pipe inside a slab or wall cavity can run for months, soaking framing, feeding mould and inflating every water bill before anything shows on the surface.
EKORP pinpoints leaks across Sydney's south without opening anything: acoustic detectors listen for escaping water, thermal cameras find the cold patch behind the plasterboard, and tracer gas handles the deep or tricky ones. The location is confirmed with more than one method before we recommend a single cut.
How we find leaks without opening walls
Surface detection comes first. Acoustic ground microphones pick up the sound of water escaping under pressure, thermal imaging cameras show the temperature difference a wet wall or a hot water line creates, and moisture meters confirm what the cameras suggest. Where those methods fall short, a harmless tracer gas is pumped into the pipe and traced to the point where it escapes.
Inside the pipe itself, CCTV and push-rod cameras give direct visual evidence of what is going on, with the inspection recorded so you can see it too. Using more than one method on every job means the location is confirmed before anything gets opened up.

Where hidden leaks turn up
The worst offenders are the buried ones. Pipes under concrete slabs can erode the soil beneath as they leak, eventually undermining the slab itself. Pipes inside wall framing drip for a long time before anything shows. Ceiling voids soak insulation, and leaks under suspended floors quietly rot joists and bearers.
Not every leak hides, though. Toilets, shower and bath seals, appliance supply lines and failing tap valves are regular sources of slow water loss, and they waste a surprising amount before anyone notices.

What water leak detection costs
We inspect the job and confirm the price before work begins. Callout charges are confirmed before booking. In most cases the detection cost comes back quickly through lower water bills and repairs that stay small.
Found, fixed and verified
Detection is only half the job. Depending on what we find, the fix might be a localised pipe repair, a resealed joint, a replaced fixture, or pipe relining where the pipe itself has failed. After the repair, pressure testing and moisture checks confirm the leak is gone, not just quieter.
Emergency arrival times depend on location, traffic and plumber availability. We will give you an estimated arrival window when you call. After-hours rates are confirmed on the phone before anyone rolls out.

Questions
Common questions about water leak detection.
Here are clear answers to common questions. Call us if you need help with something else.
How much does water leak detection typically cost?
We inspect the job and confirm the price before work begins. Tracer gas or extended CCTV work can add to that. We give you the price upfront before anything starts. In most cases the detection cost comes back quickly through lower water bills and avoided repair costs.
How can I tell if I have a hidden water leak requiring water leak detection services?
Watch for an unexplained spike in your water bill, damp or stained patches on ceilings, walls or floors, a musty smell in closed-up spaces, lower pressure at the taps, the sound of running water when everything's switched off, or warm patches on the floor that suggest a hot water pipe underneath. Any of those, give us a call for a proper assessment.
How can I differentiate between condensation issues and actual leaks requiring water leak detection services?
Condensation sits on surfaces, comes and goes with temperature and humidity changes, and usually clears up when you open a window. A leak creates dampness that sticks around no matter how much ventilation there is, often stains or shows efflorescence in the same spot, and can make the surface material start to soften. If you can't tell which one it is, a moisture meter reading during an inspection will give you a clear answer.
Will my household insurance cover water leak detection services?
Most building and contents policies cover detection costs when the inspection relates to a water damage claim, particularly for sudden or accidental leaks. Some cover detection costs where it prevented damage from happening. It varies by policy, so check your PDS. We can write up a report of the leak source, method used and findings, which insurers often ask for.
