How often does a backflow device need testing in NSW?
Sydney Water requires high and medium hazard containment devices to be tested when they are installed and every year afterwards. The accredited plumber must lodge the result with Sydney Water within two days of the test. Low hazard connections generally use non-testable devices and have no annual test.
What happens if my backflow device fails the test?
A failed device has to be repaired or replaced and then re-tested before a passing report can be lodged. Common causes are worn check valve seats, debris on the seal and a faulty relief valve. Sydney Water can restrict or disconnect the water supply where a device is not brought back into compliance.
At what temperature should I set my thermostatic mixing valve?
