How much does it cost to add a gas point to a kitchen that has never had gas?
We inspect the job and confirm the price before work begins. If the house is already on the natural gas network and the meter is reasonably close to the kitchen, the lower end is more likely. Homes on LPG will also need a regulator and cylinder installation if one is not already in place.
Does a plumber need to turn off the water to replace a mixer tap?
Yes. Replacing a mixer tap requires isolating the water supply to that fitting. If there are functioning isolating valves under the sink or behind the wall, the plumber turns those off and the rest of the house retains water supply throughout the job. If there are no isolating valves, the mains stopcock for the property is turned off briefly. This is one reason plumbers often recommend fitting isolating valves while they are doing the tap work: future repairs and replacements then become much more straightforward.
