Kitchen renovations in Sydney succeed or fail on work nobody ever sees. The pipes behind the splashback and under the floor decide whether your new sink drains properly, your gas cooktop passes inspection and your dishwasher runs without flooding the cabinet.

EKORP covers the full plumbing scope across Sydney's south: rough-in for sinks and dishwashers, certified gas cooktop and oven connections, and waste relocation for island benches and butler's pantries. We coordinate with your cabinetmaker from the first site visit so no trade is waiting on another.

Every plumbing stage of a kitchen renovation

From a compact unit update in Rockdale to a full kitchen with island bench and butler's pantry in Cronulla, the scope is the same trade discipline at different scales. Drainage fall is checked and locked in at rough-in, before cabinetry goes anywhere near it, because fixing it later means cutting through finished joinery.

  • Sink and tap installation: undermount, top-mount and butler sinks, mixers, filtered water outlets
  • Dishwasher and appliance connections with isolation valves and correct air gaps
  • Requirements can vary by property and authority. We will help you confirm what applies before work begins.
  • Supply and drainage upgrades in copper or PEX
  • Layout changes: island benches, second sinks, butler's pantries

What demolition uncovers in older kitchens

Strip out a kitchen built before the 1980s anywhere in Sydney's south and there is a fair chance you'll find galvanised steel or earthenware pipe underneath, corroded, undersized, or both. A renovation is the cheapest moment those sections will ever be to replace, so we assess what's exposed and swap out what's failing before the walls close up.

We also test supply capacity at rough-in. A high-flow mixer, a filtered water tap or an island bench connection asks more of old supply lines than they can give, and we'd rather upgrade the pipe now than explain weak pressure after handover. The same goes for hot water: a second sink or a boiling water tap can push an existing unit past its capacity, and we check before the job starts, not after.

Rough-in, fit-off, certification: how the job runs

Four steps, sequenced with your other trades. It starts with a site visit and an itemised quote covering pipe routing, waste relocation, gas lines and fixture positions. Rough-in happens before cabinetry or tiling. Fit-off happens after the build, when we connect and commission every fixture and appliance. Then everything is pressure-tested, leak-checked and certified to NSW standards, with gas compliance certificates and Sydney Water permits provided wherever required.

  • Consultation and itemised quote
  • Rough-in before cabinetry and tiling
  • Fit-off and commissioning after the build
  • Testing, certification and compliance paperwork

Questions

Common questions about kitchen renovations.

Here are clear answers to common questions. Call us if you need help with something else.

How much does a plumber cost in Sydney?

We inspect the job and confirm the price before work begins. Callout charges are confirmed before booking. Call 02 8667 5354.

Can I install a gas cooktop myself in NSW?

No. Under NSW law, carrying out gas installation work without a current gasfitting licence is an offence. This applies to homeowners as well as unlicensed tradespeople. The prohibition covers connecting the appliance, replacing the flexible hose, and adjusting the regulator. The one thing a homeowner can legally do is light the appliance after a licensed gasfitter has connected it and issued the compliance certificate. Insurance claims related to unlicensed gas work are routinely declined.

How long does gas cooktop installation take?

A straight swap at an existing gas point takes one to one and a half hours. That covers disconnecting the old appliance, connecting the new one, performing a pressure and leak test, and issuing the compliance certificate. A job requiring a new pipe run will take two to four hours depending on the run length and access. Concealed pipework in a finished kitchen takes longer than surface-mounted runs in a laundry or outdoor area.

How much does a mixer tap cost to replace in Sydney?

We inspect the job and confirm the price before work begins. New installations where no connection exists cost considerably more due to pipe rough-in work.

Is EKORP Plumbing licensed and insured for gas plumbing work?

Yes. All gas work is carried out by licensed gasfitters holding current NSW gas licences. NSW Plumbing Lic 322223C is verifiable through NSW Fair Trading. Requirements can vary by property and authority. We will help you confirm what applies before work begins.
